Mozambique offers some of the best scuba diving in Africa and is a refreshing experience. The glorious sunshine and pristine palm fringed beaches will tempt visitors to the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. Mozambique is a country of spectacular beauty, with over 2500km of unspoilt coastline, pristine beaches and virgin reefs. The seemingly endless coral reefs and a dazzling array of marine life ensures Mozambique is a diving and fishing paradise. The vibrant mix of African, Arab and Portuguese cultures gives this country a ambience of the tropic and the meridian.

There international flights serve Maputo and Beira and all other major tourist areascan be linked by either charter or scheduled flights. All visitors require a valid passport and guests will need to pre-check their visa requirements well in advance. No inoculations are required but anti-malaria precautions are recommended. Bottled water only. Lightweight clothing is suitable all year round and mosquito repellents and sun protection is strongly advisable. The local currency is Mozambique Metical. All major credit cards are accepted in most establishments, however, US travellers cheques are advised. SArands are becoming increasingly acceptable, especially in the south. What to do in Mozambique Diving on Bazaruto Island Bazaruto Island has numerous reef dive locations and divers can expect to see an extensive variety of hard and soft coral species and an abundance of tropical fish species. 4 species of Dolphin can be encountered with seasonal Humpback Whales between July to September. Manta Rays and Whale Sharks are seasonal from April to July and all five marine turtle species - most commonly seen are Loggerheads and Green turtles.The largest viable breeding population of the rare Dugong can be encountered in the western Indian Ocean.
Pemba Island Pemba is fast becoming one of Mozambique's premier tourist destinations, with many undiscovered areas now opening up to the intrepid traveller and diver. The waters are host to an extensive variety of hard and soft coral species, a vast array of marine plants, countless different types of crustacea, an abundance of fish species, seasonal whale sightings from August to October, the occasional sunfish sightings (known as moonfish in Europe), 4 species of marine turtle and pelagic (game) fish. Newly discovered reefs are currently being explored and tested for dive routes and fish population. Fishing on Bazaruto and Quirimbas Archipelago's Sportfishing in the Quirimbas has the potential to be an absolute delight for most fishermen. Big game and fly fisher-men should all be enthralled by the variety and abundance of species already seen and hooked in this area. techniques such as trolling and fly have yielded much success with a selection of species such as Kingfish, Yellowfin tuna, Queen Mackerel, queenfish, Dorado and Barracuda. The local fishermen speak excitedly of Sailfish and Marlin caught throughout the year, however, a peak season is still to be identified. River estuary fishing has potential in this area due to the amount of estuaries present within close boating distance. Bazaruto is considered Mozambique's premier fishing destination. Big game fishing started here in the late 50's. Until the early seventies, many fish of biblical proportions were caught and the area gained a worldwide reputation for its grander marlin. Marlin season runs from September to April, with peak months being October to December.The great Sailfish attract most anglers to these waters. The archipelago is also very popular for the sheer volume of it year round game fishing. Pemba Bay: has for years been an unexplored fishing ground with unknown fishing potential. It is only now with the influx of tourism that the region is starting to open up to the intrepid fisherman. Most of the fishing in and around this area was limited to local fishermen's knowledge.
