How much money will I need? |
At current exchange rates (approx ZAR7 = USD1, ZAR12 = GBP1, ZAR8 = 1 EURO), if you are on a tight budget, you can get by very well on less than USD50 or GBP30 per person per day before transport costs (less if you are camping). Amounts greater than this buy more comfort and convenience. Whilst the financial services sector in South Africa is first world, some of the smaller towns may not be familiar with all the intricacies of forex. It may be wise to convert your money in the larger centres before going off the beaten track. Major credit cards (VISA, Mastercard, Diners Club) are widely accepted.
