Large area to cover so careful planning is required |
South Africa is a large country (stretching from the southern tip of Africa, to the vast borders up north, with Mozambique to the north east, Zimbabwe to the north and Namibia & Botswana to the west and north west) incorporating the Indian Ocean on the East and Atlantic Ocean on the South West. It would take approximately 2 to 3 days minimum to drive straight through from Cape Town at the southern tip, to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, in the north.
The planning of a proposed trip therefore, becomes very important, to ensure that the itinerary "flows" from one destination to another, without causing too much time delay, avoiding back-tracking, while at the same time including as many suitable and popular tourist destinations during a trip as possible and without having to move from one place to the next day after day thus ensuring sufficient time to relax and enjoy each area. The planning with regard to either using rental cars for a "self-drive" holiday or using road transfer companies, as well as booking air charter or scheduled domestic flights in these regions, requires attention in the design of a "smooth flowing" itinerary. |
